Summer blog summary

North Wind camping summer articles index

Mid-August has just passed and despite the unfortunate forecasts that circulated from March to May, relating to the 2020 tourist season and the Covid emergency, here in Domaso on Lake Como we are in full season.

The efforts made by all the tour operators, to emerge victorious from the “great challenge called Covid”, are slowly being rewarded, judging by the high number of tourists who populate the shores of the Alto Lario this year as well.

Here at the family-run campsite North Wind in Domaso, sometimes we like to retrace the stages of this hard year of work, to relive all the moments that brought us from the worries and uncertainties of the beginning of the year, up to today, where tourists and regular guests have chosen our campsite as their holiday destination on Lake Como.

If you have missed some articles of our blog, on this page you will find an index of the posts published on our site, containing the fundamental topics that have characterized this tourist season.

Italian Holidays 2020

We put pen to paper the thoughts that crowded our heads when, after the end of the lockdown, we often heard the media talk about “holidays in Italy for Italians” and a first reopening to travel to Lombardy for Lombard citizens only.

When do the campsites on Lake Como reopen?

Since both we as managers of the campsite and our regular guests were starting to ask themselves “when will the campsites reopen?”, We wanted to write an article dedicated to this topic.

North Wind opening – camping and apartments

Following the regional ordinances, and thanks to the fact that we spent the lockdown period carrying out extraordinary maintenance work, polishing our structure like never before, as soon as it was officially possible, we found ourselves ready to reopen, which took place on 22 May.

Long weekend of 2 June 2020

Even if unfortunately it was not possible for anyone to enjoy the Easter weekend on Lake Como as usual, the long weekend of June 2 was for us the real test of the season.

A sold out super weekend, after which we wanted to thank all our guests with an article dedicated to them. You can read it here: June 2nd bridge in Domaso

What to do nearby Domaso

We listened to our friends and guests who do not know the area of Domaso and Lake Como in depth, and we have prepared for them and for anyone else who needs it, a small handbook on things to do near Domaso.

Holiday apartments in Domaso

We took advantage of the “forced break” at the beginning of the season to give a new face to our holiday apartments in Domaso, documenting the way in which we have carefully chosen the names for our one and two-room apartments.

New business launched by one of our guests during the holidays

Following the reopening of the intra-European borders, together with many new and regular guests, we were able to meet again with our great friend and historical guest Thomas. He told us the details about his new entrepreneurial adventure, born during his stay in our campsite aboard his VW T3 van.

We had the pleasure of telling his business idea created in smart-working here: a new business launched from the beach of Domaso

Tourist season around the September holidays
